Pros

I’ve loved my time at ACC. My coworker, managers, and other departments within the campus are lovely to be around. Pretty good pay and relaxed environment. I work in the tutoring lab and it can be incredibly rewarding. I truly love my job and helping students.

Cons

As a part time employee you are capped hourly at 19 hours which prevents you from getting any kind of benefits other than the ACC Money Plan which is basically their form of social security. Other than that, no PTO, no sick time, no insurance, nothing. Also, since full time positions here are so competitive it is pretty difficult to move up or transfer departments.

Pros

Supportive Environment: I appreciate and love ACC's friendly and collaborative atmosphere. Colleagues and supervisors are invaluable and understanding, which contributes to a positive workplace culture. Flexible Schedules: ACC provides flexible scheduling options, which benefits work-life balance. This flexibility is advantageous for those pursuing further education or managing personal commitments. Professional Development: ACC offers opportunities for professional growth, including training and development programs, which is great for continuous learning and skill enhancement. Positive Impact: It feels amazing to contribute to students' education and future success.

Cons

Compensation Concerns: Salaries are lower than industry standards, which can affect morale and retention. Limited Advancement Opportunities: There are limited opportunities for career progression, particularly for adjunct faculty and part-time staff. This can lead to job dissatisfaction over time. Bureaucratic Challenges: As with many large institutions, bureaucratic hurdles can impede efficiency and innovation. Decision-making processes may be slow, affecting responsiveness to change. Inconsistent Remote Work Policies: Certain positions that could be performed remotely are required to be on-site, leading to dissatisfaction among some staff members seeking flexible work arrangements.
