Pros

- excellent sales and automotive experience and ample networking opportunities. Many people have gone on from this department to make excellent money on their own or in reputable companies. -great team of coworkers made it hard to leave as working in very stressful conditions and having the same complaints regarding the job made for great after hours bonding topics

Cons

-The averaging agreement means no over time is ever paid and the time worked per week does not average out because management tells us we are working towards a team bonus and everyone must contribute 110% even if we are over the hours for the week. -Bonus program is not automatic even after you are through probation and have learned the position and management will arbitrarily change the criteria to delay putting staff on the program that was promised during the hiring process. -in the sales department you answer to the sales manager, general sales manager, general manager, yard manager, operations manager etc and all of the above are Type A micro managers who can and will side track you from your actual responsibilities to best suit their needs and then you have to stay after hours to complete the tasks you are actually assessed on. - very long road to get any significant promotion here. Management will increase your role and add more stressful tasks as time goes on but when a higher position opens they will pay a recruitment company big money to bring in someone from a different industry who has no experience managing an auction sales team meaning several experienced staff members who were declined the position have to teach the new manager the job from the ground up. The only option to get promoted is to get the position you want at a similar company and try to leverage that with management. -many customers are abusive and management will always side with the customer because they don’t want to drive away business. -traffic is terrible during rush hour. If you have to cross any bridges to get here you can go ahead and add an additonal 2h that you will be away from home.
