Pros

job stability and ok benefits

Cons

No movement, same personel doing the same job for years and years, sometimes even until retirement. No advancement opportunities for the younger generation. Lack of recognition and reward. Pay Vs Effort don't necessarily go hand in hand. Working hard is a must but recognition is also a must. Stuck in archaic ways.Incredible amount of backstabbing between colleagues on a constant basis. No team spirit, instead of working with each other to achieve better results, a lot of the personnel works against each other.

Pros

Excellent sales training, company leads (to an extent - see below), free use of company equipment, generally good experience with managers, free trip to Florida for training. I came to ADT with no sales background. As a result, I got a lot of training from my manager prior to going to Quickstart, which is ADT's national training program for salespeople. The trip to Quickstart was free, and all my meal expenses were reimbursed. Though as an outside sales person you're primarily working out of the office, you still have free use of the computes/printers/whatever you need there. You also get a certain number of company leads.

Cons

Mandatory conference calls, mandatory team meetings/time every week, expectations that are too high for a product that costs too much. I was under the impression that the distribution of company leads was based on your close rate. It is not. When I noticed that my number of company appointments was very low, my manager informed me that this was because my self-generated numbers were low. Now I understand you want to give people more time to focus on their SG activities if they aren't making their numbers, but am I really going to be motivated to do those activities if I'm not making any money otherwise? Company leads are easy money for the most part. It is very easy to achieve a 50% or higher close rate. It is not so easy to get SG sales unless you have a strong network already. As someone who doesn't, and was assured from the get-go that this wouldn't be an issue, I'm feeling a little misinformed and I'll be seeking employment elsewhere.
