Pros

Lots of job opportunities if you are willing to relocate. Generally higher pay scale than the area in which we are located.

Cons

The cheerleading from above is in direct contrast to the reality here on the ground. We were acquired, told repeatedly how well our area is doing, then the majority of our office laid-off. There is more paperwork, more red tape, and no or bare-bones answers to procedural questions. People were put into local management positions who are not capable of managing people, or time, or projects....not all experienced engineers are management material, some are great engineers. Training offered is for licensed professionals, not for mere mortals of the office. The company doesn't have a pay scale for different titles. They have acquired so many companies with differing job descriptions and pay levels, they haven't created one main list. There is no list showing how to move up levels within your job description (e.g. Accountant I vs. Accountant II). For those of us with a 'made-up' title (since we don't want you to get paid too little as a ______ but paid too much as a __________(based upon the non-existant job title list)), there is no job duties list, job description, or job growth plan for those who would like to move up in step, within their current office. It doesn't matter if you have exceeded your goals, you may not get an increase in pay; "you should just be happy you still have a job" (for the last 3 years). Some of us have been furloughed due to the lack of work. Some of us are doing the work of 5 people to make up for the lay offs while being furloughed. Some of us are only staying (vs. quitting) for the severence package. Some of us are very sorry Boyle, then AECOM, acquired our office.

Pros

International projects. Lots of locations around the world.

Cons

Management at all levels does not communicate well. Many of the leaders are incompetent, some downright dishonest. The good ones are struggling against the inertia of the company and the greed of "cowboy" managers.
