Pros

There’s no question that AGC encourages rapid growth and an intense sense of community among its team members. The company demands a high level of dedication and attention to detail in everything that you do, while providing the resources and access to knowledge necessary to create a work product that you can be proud of. I have been at AGC for over half a year now, and have learned and developed more than I ever imagined possible not only as an employee but as a person in general. I feel that I have become incredibly independent and resourceful as a result of the atmosphere that AGC promotes, and the support that you receive from working at a small company like this is unparalleled. As an administrative assistant with a strong interest in marketing, I have been able to take on way more marketing responsibilities than expected in my first year here which is a testament to the fact that AGC quickly recognizes and rewards passion and solid performance. Our CEO is interacting with the analysts, interns, partners and operations team on a daily basis, and team outings and events are constantly being planned to facilitate bonding and personal relationships among all levels of the company. I could not have asked for a better first job out of college and will always be grateful for the experiences and friendships I am gaining here at AGC.

Cons

AGC is not a company for people who are looking to just coast by. There is undoubtedly a high expectation set for each and every employee regardless of their position and everyone must come into their role expecting to work their hardest at all times. That being said, there is immense personal and professional reward that comes along with this level of expectation and I would not trade it for the world.

Pros

I joined AGC Partners as an Associate after 3.5 years of tech banking at a much smaller boutique in order to get greater exposure and advance my career with a well-known platform for mid-market tech M&A. I’ve gotten a ton of experience in my first year with the firm, have closed three high profile deals, and built a global network within tech and private equity. Our deal teams run lean, which means I’ve had to own a lot of my own growth and have had plenty of opportunities to punch above my weight class. The team and the culture has been supportive as I’ve acclimated to the pace and intensity of AGC. The partners are highly accessible, and several have taken a personal interest in my development. The analysts I work with are smart, motivated, and eager to jump in with high quality work product. I’ve had the opportunity to work under partners who bring experience from top firms like Lazard, Jefferies, and Lehman Brothers, and have seen our former analysts go on to be successful at top MBA programs and PE shops such as KKR, Silver Lake, Providence, Summit and many more. My professional growth at AGC Partners has been based on merit, and I have been given plenty of opportunity to learn quickly and advance much faster than expected. Early into my time with the firm, I was tasked with managing critical points in the process on one of our largest deals. Off the back of a successful outcome for the client and for our firm, I was promoted to VP within my first year at AGC. All in all, I got the caliber of experience and the work hard, play hard environment I was looking for, and then some.

Cons

Given the number of deals we have going at one time, sometimes I will feel spread too thin. It’s never unmanageable, but there are times where I would like to go deeper into a given deal than I have the bandwidth to. As we staff up, I expect this to become less of an issue.

The Most I've Learned in 6 Years

Pros

I worked at AGC for 6 years and started as an Assistant to the CEO. From there, I can honestly say that I have never learned so much then I have in those 6 years. I started out as an Assistant and was promoted 3 times during my time at AGC. I was given many opportunities to not only learn the iBanking industry, but to try many different job functions while I was there -- Managing a team of admins, Mangaing and helping with AGC's events, and Managing the entire recruiting process. I gained trust from the CEO and was treated with immense respect from him and the Senior Management team. AGC is for people that are willing to work, and work hard. You need to have smarts and you need to be willing to put in the hours to be offered additional responsibilites and be compensated for the additonal work you are doing. I grew up at AGC. I started off, like I said, right out of college and didn't mind the long work days. As I grew older, I eventually got engaged, married, and moved to the suburbs. AGC and Ben worked with me and allowed me to reduce my hours, so that I was able to spend more time at home. I would absolutely recommend AGC to anyone I know. My current company and boss are extremely impressed with the amount of work I can do, my completion time of projects, and the thorough work that I produce. I owe this all to AGC and Ben, as without my experience at AGC I would not be the person or worker that I am today.

Cons

The hours are long, but this is known at the interview process.
