Pros

The experience of interning with AGC is, in a word, dynamic. Even with a finance background, the work was as compelling as it was challenging. Building comprehensive set of profiles weekly to support analysts and partners demand people who are ambitious and curious about the tech sector. But fear not! The substantive training program definitely prepares you for the high volume of hands-on live deal experience which in many ways surpasses that of larger firms. This is invaluable for anyone wanting to get a toe into the ibanking waters. The caveat to this is that you will get out what you put in. Expect to be proactive if you have any questions. The ‘dynamic’ experience presents itself in the culture and the people at AGC. My time was characterized less by the hours, which are standard for a leading investment bank, but by the interactions with the team members. Most coming from backgrounds of collegiate sports, the team defines “work hard, play hard”, operating autonomously but willing to lend a hand if you ask for it. Expect to commit real time into this internship and enjoy down to earth social outings on Thursday and Friday nights. Dress is business casual for those who are curious. Additional perks include the gym and showers, located on the floor. Most people at the office work out in the evenings, which really reflects the work-life balance at the firm. The location also lends itself for great lunch walks to the local food trucks just outside which is a plus. Ultimately, the dynamic nature of the industry and of its people make AGC a great place to start a career, only limited by the hours you want to put in and the questions you want to ask.

Cons

Obviously the hours are long, but having a gym on the floor means that you can better balance both your work and personal fitness. But even as an intern (7:45am to 8pm) you're not putting as many hours as an analyst (usually 8:30am to 11pm) so relatively it's not bad at all.

Pros

Tremendous exposure on a daily basis to the deal execution process, technology executives, broad range of investors, corporate strategy and innovative technology products/markets. Very tight-knit junior banking team for such a competitive environment and the ambitious employees understand the importance of work hard / play hard attitude when the work requires an incredible time commitment.

Cons

Long hours, with stressful and time-sensitive situations.

Pros

The people I work with here at AGC are awesome. You immediately have a close group of colleagues and friends which helps during the long hours in the office.

Cons

The hours are definitely long but that comes with the territory. The time spent is worth the experience and the individual growth.
