AKQA isn't all that great from the inside.

Pros

If your young and a creative its fine working for AKQA for a couple of years. Junior level staff can learn at AKQA. You'll have to move to another company if you want to advance.

Cons

Anyone else who doesn't get hired as manager or gets hired onto a very exciting client project won't have much to appreciate about the company while your working there.

Pros

the nature of the work is interesting and varied The clients are great The people are pleasant

Cons

Some key players do not seem to truly have experience with nor an understanding of interactive resulting in over promising and creating unnecessary bewilderment, confusion, stress and churn for everyone. Expect to work weekends, late nights frequently

Pros

- Name recognition: AKQA looks good on your resume - Casual atmosphere: not as corporate and stuffy as other shops - Creative environment: top talent (who usually don't stay long) inspire you to produce your best work

Cons

- Severe underpay: Why does AKQA think it is OK to underpay for the amount and quality of work they expect? - Sweatshop environment: Top accounts are expected to work around the clock and weekends. - Immature leadership: Managers will behave passive-aggressively rather than talk directly about interpersonal issues. - Clueless about tech: AKQA was to build itself into a digital shop, but has it all wrong about how to do it. This is frustrating place for tech developers and interaction designers.
