AKQA is a great place to start your career, friendly attitudes, decent clients.

Cons

After a couple years, it becomes a dead-end type job. No real room for advancement skill-wise, or pay/benefits-wise. Seniors tend to pick favorites by personality versus job performance and skills. I do not know who is in charge of the hiring process, but we have pulled in a lot of dead weight over the years. The fact that people who deserve raises do not receive them because we keep hiring people that are incompetent and generally useless does not help employee morale. Also it would help if management gave us valid reasons for the decisions they make versus BS, or no reason at all.

Pros

It's a company at the top of the tree, very well respected and revered within the industry. It has an amazing client list and has worked with many of its clients for many years. People genuinely care about each other and will often go to great lengths to help out. There's a great after work drinks culture if that's your thing.

Cons

Leadership and mangagement are generally poor, and there is a culture of who you know rather than what you know allowing you to get ahead: promotions and benefits usually go to those who can talk the talk rather than necessarily those who walk the walk.
