Pros

Health Insurance. You at least have a job.

Cons

I have been working at ALM Media for a considerable amount of time. The lack of diversity at the senior level is a significant issue that cannot be ignored. Take a look at ALM’s senior leadership for the last two decades alone and you’ll see glaring red flags. The inside sales department is living proof of the imbalances - people who really don't know what they’re doing vs. a talented team of sales representatives that make the ill-equipped higher-ups look good. The only DEI efforts I’ve ever seen from ALM came after the death of George Floyd, and, in my opinion, it was not about representation, but more about tokenization to put on a good face for the world. Cons: Senior Leadership Diversity: One of the most glaring issues at ALM is the lack of diversity at the senior leadership level. The top positions are predominantly occupied by individuals from similar backgrounds, creating a noticeable lack of representation. Limited Career Advancement Opportunities: The absence of diversity at the senior level has a trickle-down effect, impacting career advancement opportunities for employees from underrepresented groups. This can be demotivating and hinder professional growth. Inclusive Policies Need Improvement: While the company claims to have inclusive policies, the execution falls short. There is a need for more comprehensive diversity and inclusion initiatives that go beyond superficial efforts. ALM is a good ole boys club to a degree. This is from Psychology Today: "These good ole boys clubs have a range of consequences in the business world. Although membership has grown to include more women (and minorities), the white men’s club still wrongfully excludes most women. These clubs wield power through their connections. True, it is who you know. When introduced to the right person, someone can make important business transactions or close a deal through these networks. These networks function like any other informal social network: to establish connections through mutual friendships. “You scratch my back and I scratch your back” is the mantra of the good ole boys. And it works."

Pros

The physical office itself was very inviting.

Cons

ALM is an aggregation if many smaller companies that have been acquired over the years - I’d you don’t come from one of them, don’t ever expect to fit in or to ever get support. Management solely looks out for itself, with zero interest in the development or growth of its employees. The CEO was a nice guy, but his extraordinary separation from the reality of what’s going on underneath him is laughable. The HR department is a joke, with zero accountability and actual total disregard when complaints, concerns or issues are even filed - even harassment. ALM is the child of a private equity firm, and it is evident every single day - as all that matters to management is to do the most possible from the minimal investment the PE group has put in.

Thank you for your feedback. At ALM, all claims of harassment are taken seriously and investigated fully. We encourage any employee with any workplace issue to speak with HR if they are not comfortable speaking with their manager. In terms of business strategy, we've successfully integrated several companies over the past few years, and we're very confident in our mission to reach business professionals in highly regulated industries.
