Pros

I absolutely loved my team, direct supervisor, and mid-to-upper management in the business office. Loved the camaraderie, the constant workload, and the benefits are excellent and affordable.

Cons

Word to the wise, if you ever get this or any other position through a staffing service, know that what they pay you will not be on par with what Alexian pays you should you be hired on permanently. HR attempted to knock my pay down a full dollar when that happened and even after my manager fought tooth and nail to get me more, they only reduced the cut to 50 cents less. Absolutely terrible tactic with regards to retaining long term employees.

Pros

Location is great right off the highway, and there's a Starbucks on campus

Cons

Lowest base pay of any suburban hospitals, short staffed, unrealistic work load, management hides in the office all day with no offer to help, no unit or floor rotation for RTs, AMITA prefers to hire agency than giving raises, small bonuses, policy that staff must clock out for the 30 min required break, staff can not clock in or out more than 1 minute before start of shift, HR ignores staff concerns or needs, benefit package is over priced and little coverage, turn over rate is ridiculous, management and staff spend good portion of the shift on smoke breaks, ER patients wait up to 2 or more hours just to be seen, even if it's chest pain or shortness of breath, MDs and RNs slow to ship out critical patients that the staff isn't equipped or trained to handle, most NICU staff are rude, inappropriate, and unprofessional towards therapists.

Pros

Jobsite is close to home and convenient to get to. Ability to learn a new hospital billing system which will be beneficial at other institutions.

Cons

Atmosphere here is not conducive to a healthy working enviroment. Turnover is almost weekly and training is archaic at best. This department is managed like a prison by managers that do not know how to handle people in todays work environment. Management seems to look past the core of the problem which leads to the high turnover rate. This is not a happy or healthy place to work. There is a reason for the high turnover rate and HR has not stepped in to correct this so consequently the turnover will continue.
