Exciting to work here at first, but you can become discouraged.

Pros

Workout facility and cafe on-site! They have recently improved the Cafe experience and even extended the coffee service hours to 4pm which is a plus. The community overall is friendly, and you meet a lot of great people there. Stable position if you do your job well.

Cons

There are multiple leadership levels from Senior to Team Lead, and Supervisor positions, but the lack of growth is real. I've been with the company multiple years, and haven't been able to progress in my role. The positions exist and but Directors chose not to fill those roles as people leave the company or change departments. I guess they want to save on overhead costs. Additionally, new employees start at a higher pay than existing employees in the same role. This needs to be looked at, and re-evaluated. People hired 6 months ago make PENNIES less than me and I've gone through multiple merit increases.

Pros

They gave health insurance but you will pay a high price when the executives get it for free. I ask you are they a better person, smarter, more deserving than you. If you answer yes than you think very low of your yourself and family because they don't even know you and your family are alive.

Cons

Bernie Sanders help us. Don't know where to start-hiring costly executives, while the workers get pay cuts. You the lowly worker will be sacrificed to save the jobs and high income of executives. We have already had our wages cut. We are just above min. wage and well under poverty levels for this area. With a family you can apply for state assistance. You will work to make the leaders fatter. They hire stupid new grads who live at home with no expenses do not work here if you are a professional looking for a professional wage unless you hire on at the executive level. You are no better then salve owners in the 1700's of America and as a minority person of color I should know. I am going to the press and internet to expose this abusive company against senior and established American workers. What is next a Disney con? A company name American is anything but for America go elsewhere please.

Pros

The facilities were great. There was an on-site Starbucks, lunch cafe with discount and of course the gym. At AMN many employees had the opportunity to use state-of-the-art software and systems. This allowed many to stay competitive in the job market and ultimately leave the company. That is the only reason I am giving AMN 2 stars. The high work volume and short deadlines, has allowed me to currently outperform my peers. So I guess that was another positive

Cons

Where do I start? There was definitely an emphasis on getting as much work done as humanly possible, which created hardly any work/life balance. There was a constant pressure to meet deadlines, some of which were unrealistic. It seemed those who were efficient got bombarded with even more work to do to make up for the others who couldn't keep up. My regret was not pushing back on the work I was expected to complete. Despite the heavy workload, overtime was discouraged and rarely allowed. We even received emails stating we were not allowed to work ANY overtime. Yet plenty of hourly employees simply clocked out and continued to work to meet deadlines expected of them. Those who chose to continue to work "off the clock" did so on their own accord. So it was partly our fault for allowing it to happen in the first place. Still, the company has a responsibility to its employees and their wellbeing. Per California labor law and federal law, AMN has a legal responsibility to pay non-exempt employees for their total hours worked. Speaking of pay, the salaries at AMN for non-upper management are absolutely bottom of the barrel when compared to similar positions at other companies across San Diego County. We are talking 30-40% below market rate. There is/was always a constant stream of people leaving. Every few weeks invites to yet another "Going away" happy hour/party were received. It was yet another person who was intelligent enough to realize they were worth more. They finally put themselves out there and saw their full potential and value outside of AMN. Leaving AMN was THE best professional decision of my life. I certainly don't regret it.
