Pros

Some great co workers, occasional legit calls, okay intro to the 911 world. Pay has gotten a lot higher, but so has area cost of living. Best thing might just be the ability to transfer to another location where they do primary ALS and get some real experience (likely for less pay)

Cons

Absolutely no way to progress in skills or challenge skills due to county protocols/city contract. Been this way for decades and will not change ever. Breeds complacency and burnout. Indifferent/distance management.

Pros

- Lots of great opportunities to learn important hands-on skills - Long(ish) transport times allow for understanding and ascertaining the fundamentals of clinical care in a prehospital setting. - The pay has recently improved company-wide. - No IFTs whatsoever - Semi-recently updated fleet of new ambulances. This means far fewer breakdowns and more comfortable experiences in them.

Cons

- The biggest issue is posting to other cities for coverage to meet compliance. It causes fatigue, burnout, and frustration for all ambulance crews. - Management at the end of the day needs to do what is best for the system and company, regardless of the situation. This means less than ideal decisions about operation guidelines sometimes. - Other employees do not show very much compassion and it leads to a toxic workplace. - While the pay has improved, it is still not as competitive as other systems locally.
