Great pay and diverse call volume

Pros

Great pay, wide variety of calls between 911 and interfacility, good benefits, upward mobility if you work for it. When I was there there were full time float positions, which made school scheduling/ fire academy a breeze for those who needed it. Also it's a union shop, which could be good or bad based on how you look at it.

Cons

It's a HUGE operation, so be prepared to feel like a number for awhile. Also I would say the relationship between field crews and supervisors was tense. Keep your nose clean, show up on time, shine your boots, make sound patient care decisions and you will be fine.

Alright

Pros

Better pay (slightly/ hourly) compared to other agencies around my area. (doesn't apply to full-time positions as week totals accumulate less pay comparatively) all in all, it's not the worst place to get some experience, but I'd highly recommend anywhere else first. It's a transport agency first, though they do run some urgent calls or cover for other counties. if you're looking for an easy call after easy call for 12 hours straight then this is the place for you. If you want something to challenge your skills and an EMT or medic, find somewhere else.

Cons

Management is as big of a "mess" as it gets. To put it in perspective, the turnover rate at one point saw nearly all but 3 paramedics and about 75% of the EMT-Bs to leave within a 2-month span of time, including a few Lieutenants. This was all due to how the Captains and up treated the Lieutenants and below. Truly an absolute mess and be prepared to be overworked even by EMS standards.
