No Upper Management Leadership

Pros

Large company which allows you to transfer in many states around the US

Cons

No investment into employee training or Supervisor training. There is 0 professional development for the employees. No open forum meetings, no professional growth for the supervisor or day to day employee. Wages are low so that stockholders are kept happy. A ambulance company owned by a Private Equity firm is a horrible idea. Private equities want growth and wealth for the stockholders to they can sell in 3-5 years. There is NO growth for the employee and noone looks at for the employees. Senior leadership is TOP heavy and all making >$150,000.

Pros

As someone who has spent their entire career working as a prehospital provider, I was thrilled when I realized that AMR allows people like myself to utilize our training. Typically, when you work for a private ambulance company, you're waiting for someone to retire before you can transition to an administrative position, or to become a member of management. I've worked for AMR for a little over four years, and I've already had multiple promotions, and been privileged to serve my fellow prehospital providers as a human resources professional. Both my education and experience has been a factor for those promotions, and I can honestly say that my ability to connect and converse with my fellow providers has been a key component of that success.

Cons

Our company's main weakness will always be the weakness of all large companies: we're simply too large to solve all of our problems at once. Things fall through the cracks, but luckily we've got a fantastic group of professionals who are always trying to make our workplace a better environment for providers and support staff alike.
