Pros

Benefits and pay are average for area. Work environment is good. My personal supervisor is very approachable if you have any complaints/problems/suggestions.

Cons

No opportunity for advancement. Most managers only seem concerned about the money and not the employees/patients. Work load is either too light or too heavy....no middle ground. Inconsistency among managers.

Pros

AMR is a great company to work for. They provide stepping stones of opportunities for their employees to obtain future careers with other Fire and EMS agencies or the private sector. Many people that have left AMR after 5 years have propelled themselves into better careers. EMT's become RN's, Management move on to managerial positions in the public or private sector that have better career opportunities and pay. AMR is the training ground for Americas future.

Cons

AMR has the potential for advancement within... however.. they also make across the board cuts in management from time to time to protect their budgets. This is not limited to middle management but occurs at the top as well. My overall experience at AMR was positive... but I was a risk taker and have made the most of the opportunities when presented realizing that a position at AMR is only secure as the economy or the next internal company's mergers. There's a common statement among the employees at AMR... One step up the ladder is one step closer to the exit.
