Pros

9 sets of uniforms custom fitted for free 150$ boot voucher every 2 years Weather-resistant hazard yellow jacket free Blue EMS crash scene helmet free Orientation classes such as "how to assist a Paramedic", "how to assist a CCT RN" that provide instruction on how to assist with IVs, 12-Leads, Ventilators, Heart Monitors, CPAP, etc.. all free and required. Free renewal classes for every kind of certification they require Your day to day partners feel like family because we all are out running calls and doing our best to help each other.

Cons

Scheduling Managers do not help out the worker. They need to fill their quotas and that's it. Very hard (all but impossible) to get your PTO request accepted Shift schedules are mandated by the "BID". A bi-annual bid for shifts based on seniority. plenty of people have been in the division for years and never want to retire. If you area new hire just count on working possibly for a full year on your 20th choice for a schedule-- all the other shifts will be taken by the time you get a chance to throw your pick into it.

Pros

Consistent Full time work decent benefits Opportunities to advance fast paced Good work environment 12 hr shifts where I was, which meant you only worked 3 days one week and 4 days the next week. The gave a great deal of time to spend with my family. That was actually my favorite part of working for AMR.

Cons

Benefit premiums are far too expensive, tended to take over half of my income to pay the taxes and benefits. When in a supervisory position, they press you to discipline subordinates rather than simply speaking to them to resolve the issues of concern. No regular breaks. usually required to eat at your radio console
