Pros

I have been with the company for 4 years and have gradually progressed through the ranks. Having joined from an agency I was pleasantly surprised at the total change in culture, no more micro managment and KPI for KPI's sake or fear of the glares you'd get for leaving on time. the business gets the balance of support whilst giving a large amount of responsibility right and gives real freedom to get closer to clients and manage your own career in a way I have not seen in any agency or any other company I have worked for. my experience is that a good job is rewarded well and that the approach by management is one of fairness and meritocracy. I should add that whilst the business is driven commercially, the culture is not one of putting commercial gain over client satisfaction and, since joining the business I genuinely feel AMS offer a partnership solution to some of the best companies in the UK and globally Having seen some of the comments on here I can only assume these have been written out of bitterness as my experience of 4 years with AMS does not echo some of the descriptions on here. Perhaps those who are dissatisfied with their experience may need to consider looking internally as to why it didn't work out for them as I believe that, if you work hard AMS is one of the best places to forge a career with. The clients you can be exposed to and the freedom you are given to operate within this environment I feel is unrivalled amongst any of the competition to AMS, either in terms of client exposure, commercial awareness or stakeholder management. I can honestly say in my 4 years with the company I have never thought of leaving as I have never had reason to, the opportunities to progress, move internally into different teams or get involved in any projects that are of interest are unlike any company I have ever worked for.

Cons

Like every big company, some of the processes can seem clunky and unneccessarliy bureaucratic on occasion however these are usually due to the level of risk the company is exposed to and the compliance offering we deliver to our clients. the size of the company can also cause different divisions to be slightly protracted although again, like most companies, this is more a case of finding out for yourself and making your career work for you. rather than expecting promotion or opportunites to land in your lap.

Pros

I have been working with AMS for a total of 11 years, and I can honestly say, I love working for AMS. AMS really promotes internal promotion and is passionate about promoting staff through the ranks. I first joined the company as an Administrator, and am now managing a large team in the Bracknell office so am proof that what you put into your career, you really do get out. There are many opportunities to progress. One of the things, that I like the most about AMS, is the fact we run an apprenticeship program each year, here we give not only something back to the local community, but we also give people an opportunity to work for a great company, and train the individuals up in many different area's providing them with key skills and an NVQ at the end of the academy. Once these people have achieved the NVQ, we retain this talent, and these individuals, go onto be very successful Sourcers / Recruiters. AMS has an excellent training facility and is very passionate that all staff take advantage of the courses, that are on offer to enhance personal development as well as on the job training. AMS also has a large number of clients, I personally feel passionately about each of our clients and I like the opportunity I get to work with these clients on daily basis. The satisfaction you get upon placing a candidate within a well-known brand / company is also a great feeling, as on a daily basis we are helping people. The office offers a great work life balance, offers great holiday allowance, and good benefits as well. I have recommended a number of people to AMS, majority of which have been successful. Whilst selling them the role initially, I am sure they had some doubts, that AMS couldn’t be as good as I described it, however I regularly get told by them now, that I was right and they too made the right career move by joining AMS.

Cons

I am trying to think of a con, here but struggling so on that basis, if I have to think to hard, there really cant be anything, or this would come as easily as the pros.

Pros

Great range of clients you could potentially work across. Strong leadership; Commerciality within your; Great Culture; Genuine Career-Progression; Opportunity to continuously learn; Strong personal development opportunities; Good infrastructure and support network; Great transparency on the financial performance of the organisation; Accessible leadership; An organisation that is truly at the front of the RPO market and leading the way in best practice, world class recruitment solutions.

Cons

You need to be a self-starter to succeed (as in any organisation right?); Sometimes the RPO model & solution for a client becomes outdated as the wider market evolves - can cause pain until corrected; Can be behind the curve on pay and salaries - bonus is always ambiguous; Centralised communications need to be improved - don't know what's going on else where in the company until you ask or find out yourself; the nature of the organisation means it is very disparate - few opportunities to really meet and connect with people across the broader account.
