Pros
- Big names in your CV, AMS' clients are big brands that look nice when you want to apply to better places - They hired me without TA experience and let me gain experience I needed to go further and I am forever grateful for the opportunity - Work-life balance was quite okay - Good med insurance, overall the benefits were cool - The initial training was super informative and engaging, I truly learned a lot
Cons
- You just don't feel safe. you constantly hear about layoffs, but your TL tells you to calm down and not to panic because it's going to be alright, the layoffs happen only in UK (I was in Poland). And then, boom, you all get laid off. Of course - it's not the TL's fault and they're often also impacted. But they treat people like small children who cannot handle honesty. They fired my friend who has a child and his wife was pregnant at the time... if he hadn't been constantly assured that "it would be fine" he wouldn't have been so surprised by the outcome - that's why we need honesty and we need it as soon as possible. - The payment was below market rates. I can still understand this because of the level of people employed. I was hired in the middle of the year and at the beginning of the next year it turned out that I did not deserve the full bonus. However, it did not prevent anyone from entrusting me (2 months after I joined!) with all the responsibilities of a person two levels above me, because they had left the company. but to be absolutely honest that was the only time when I was stressed about the workload, overall that was fine (because there used to be a lot of us in my team, not sure how does it look now after they fired so many people). - Between 2020-2022 they used to hire literally anyone who speaks English and it shows (weird people around you, you often wonder - how did they even got here). And you really feel that you are treated like a half-brained creature. - People become managers as part of a promotion. Thanks to this, TLs are not TLs because they have soft skills needed for the job (or because they completed a few trainings on how to treat other people), but because they were simply good at recruiting and worked long enough, which is something completely different than managing people. And it shows as soon as you try to have a real and honest conversation with your TL (probably depends on a person as well). - They fire people hired on permanent contracts and then re-open the role as 6 FTC (to make it easier to let you go) - You're constantly being gaslighted, I cannot even describe how often and how much. You have a concern? You're probably doing something wrong. Someone was rude to you? You're overreacting. Something is not correct? You must've made a mistake and so on... Such level of feeling dumb never happened to me before and never after. Micromanaging is also very common, you have a tracker for every single breath that you take while working. - Promotions are mystery - how, when and who? You never know. What I heard from my TL is 'well, definitely not you this time, lol'. Tells much about motivating an employee doesn't it ;-)
