Pros

- great clients - good work/life balance normally but with extreme peaks when client demands go up - relaxed environment - flexible working arrangements

Cons

- promotion and recognition quite random and performance targets not very clear - never feel part of AMS, feel part of the client

Culture Lag

Pros

I love the culture and people in the company. To be able to e treated as adults was really refreshing. We were given the freedom to improve what we're working on for our and the company's benefit.

Cons

The higher management of our Branch in the South East Asia was new then and he acquired people to lead us from the outside instead of promoting qualified people from the inside. The culture and progress were changed, a lot left, and dissatisfaction from the promises of the HQ in the UK grew. There were culture lags from the UK to our branch and most got disillusioned. There was a time where I was told to train the person who is going to challenge me for promotion. It was like digging my own grave. So I tendered my resignation so I can teach/ train objectively.

Be proactive to make the most of AMS

Pros

I have worked at AMS for over 10 years in a number of different roles and overall I can genuinely say it’s a company I love working for. By its very nature of being an RPO, the business can feel fragmented as teams are embedded on client sites or located in large service centres, often across different geographies. Your client and team can make a big difference to your AMS experience so you have to be willing to network and build relationships beyond your immediate client account to make it work. Taking opportunities to move roles and accounts is worth the upheaval! I have learnt a huge amount working on assignments across different business areas. It’s a fast paced, dynamic company so being comfortable with change is a benefit.

Cons

It’s not for the faint hearted – opportunities are real but you have to drive your own career and raise your own profile, your manager won’t do this for you. Like any company there are a few poor managers and cliques do exist but the majority of people do genuinely care. As the company grows, the leadership seem to be more remote and less accessible.
