Toxic Culture, Low Pay & Stagnant Growth

Pros

Most people, outside of the c-suite, are friendly and understanding of the limited resources across the organization.

Cons

- Everyone is constantly scrambling to get things done across the organization due to limited resources. People are constantly burning out, and there is no urgency to ramp up staff to support the volume of programs ASAE has. They say hiring staff needs to be strategic, but right now that's at the cost of their existing staff's mental and physical health paired with LOW PAY. - Minimal room for promotions. You basically have to wait until senior staff leave - Very LOW PAY. As some other reviews have noted or suggested, they insist they are competitive, but they are not. - Constant sense of urgency, usually spurred by the C-Suite being reactive, impulsive, and/or late on decision-making - Culture of finger pointing & blaming rather than addressing the root causes of organizational issues - Very selective on who gets to work remotely and who does not. It is unfair and suggests power trips... The approach also contradicts their emphasis on DEI and Conscious Inclusion - Poor communications from HR & the c-suite - HR is notorious for not being responsive and making mistakes where they should NOT be made. - Poor leadership from senior management - Everyone seems to be an expert in everything. Instead of focusing on their own roles, people spend time telling others how to do their jobs, and some members of the c-suite encourage or contribute to it. There's little value for staff expertise, unless you're close with select members of the c-suite. - A lot of gaslighting - Overall toxic culture. Any work to improve culture gets dumped on a group of employees who have volunteered to help when we are already understaffed. Culture assessments are coming later, which shows it is not a priority. - A cons review from 2016 notes, " Very little market analysis (if any) is used to determine products and services leading to bizarre imbalances in expenditures, rampant soloing between departments, and confusion among members about what offerings come from where." This has not changed. (This page is outdated. John H. Graham, CAE is no longer the CEO.)

Pros

Health insurance, free coffee and sodas, location easily accessible

Cons

Marketing department is very difficult to work with. They don’t use best practices that asae teaches, the organization stays the same because they don’t do anything new. They are still operating as if it’s the lte 1990s.
