Thanks for the review. I'm happy that you liked the projects and people you worked with. From what you advised, it certainly appears that you had issues with your manager and other managers at ASC. I'm sorry you felt this way, and would have hoped you would have taken the initiative while at ASC to discuss your issues directly. Knowing first-hand the hard work, knowledge, dedication, and caring that ASC manager's put into their jobs and into their people, I will certainly have to respectfully disagree with your competency argument. The vast majority of our employees and customers know that ASC is a great company and appreciate the differences that make ASC special, such as our strong commitment to employees, Team Values, and world-class products. We see these differences as a huge asset, but there will always be a few employees who never really "buy in". Although we always try to improve and foster the best relationships with our employees, it sometimes just doesn't work out. I hope you are able to find a company that makes you happy and fits your style and expectations. Good luck! :)

Pros

I've worked as a fabricator for a few years now and have seen lots of improvement in that time. Compared to my last company they are very strong on safety. The pay and benefits is good, but they also do other stuff for the employees like a yearly fishing trip, picnic, parties, and a recent bowling event (it was a blast). The work is fast paced and challenging. When I started I didn't know anything about autoclaves, but now I'm a lead and I've built two autoclaves on my own and have lead a team on larger ones. They have lots of work and if you like overtime there is plenty. They also have improved quality and you can see employees spending more time making sure the work is perfect. They are also expanding and just bought another building down the road. We're told they will be putting in a gym and game room for the employees, so that will be another pro.

Cons

It's sometimes tough to get material and drawings for jobs. The engineers need to put drawings out on time instead of at the last minute. The shop manager tends to pull people from jobs when other jobs get behind. This can screw up your own job. Its sometimes difficult to get welding machines and curtains. please buy more. Field work can be tough on families if your on a long field job.

Pros

I miss many of the people that work there. Nice building. Hard to come up with much more to make the 20 word minimum.

Cons

Everyone has more to do than any one person can accomplish in an 8 or 9 hour day. When you ask for help, it doesn't come. This is the result of tasks being assigned with no respect for how long they take to do. Thus, everyone was always putting out fires.

Thanks for your feedback. It appears that you left soon after we moved into our new facility. As you know, those were hectic days, especially when trying to move the company AND at the same time trying to ship a record quantity of autoclaves. Our workload grew tremendously in 2010, and unfortunately we were unable to hire enough qualified people quickly enough to keep up with the workload. The result was lots of overtime. Once we were finally up and running and we managed to hire enough people, the excessive overtime was no longer required. Good luck with your career.
