Pros

ASC is just the right size so you can make a real difference if you're ambitious and a go-getter.

Cons

Not everything is neatly structured and organized. Training can be sub-par.

Pros

In fairness to ASC, they have very few layoffs, are financially strong and growing. There are also a handful of very nice/bright people there that are stuck for now.

Cons

The company pushes people to the breaking point. Forget about work-life balance. You can easily put in 12+ hour days and still not be caught up on your workload. They are reactive, not proactive. Many people feel defeated and often talk about wanting to leave. There is no talent development effort in place. This is a ok place to come for 1 - 2 years, gain a marketable skill set and move on. As stated above, they have a handful of very bright people in place, but in general they've not been able to attract top talent. There is no connection with Management...and management will throw you under the bus every chance they get to boost their own ego. This is not an environment that encourages innovation and create thought.

Thanks for your review, and I appreciate your feedback. Although it might not always feel that way, management at ASC is constantly focused on the health and well-being of our employees. As a result of your review, we polled all of our employees to ask how much overtime they wanted. The results indicated that all but a few wanted to continue overtime, but that only 15% wanted 12 hrs per day. The majority of employees wanted to work 10 hrs/day, and as a result we switched to 10 hrs/day. Also, for those that wanted to work straight-time only, we agreed to give them 8 hrs/day. Now, we only consider 12 hr/days in special circumstances. Thanks for your advice.

Pros

Working at ASC is a great opportunity right after college to gain some good, real world engineering experience. The opportunity here has helped me acquire new opportunities and provided me skills to put me a cut above the rest of the competition. The engineers and floor workers are kind and easy to get along with, and plenty of opportunities for team building such as picnics, friday lunches, etc. Being able to be both a project manager and an engineer provided invaluable experience not only towards my resume but when applying for other positions. The engineering mentors really help you hone in the engineering process and the correct steps to take when working on a project here to successfully complete it.

Cons

1. Although its great experience being both a PM and engineer, the job is very stressful and you will feel overworked. It is a lot of responsibility to take on both roles and would ideally be better being broken up into two. 2. If you do anything, whether work related or not, and it does not follow the personal beliefs of the company, they will continuously look into your social media platforms, including recruiting social media platforms, to see if you are applying for new jobs. 3. HR and management will question you anytime you update your recruitment social media and creates a toxic work environment where you will fear retaliation anytime you want to update your job searching social media platforms. 4. Their HR team prey on younger, inexperienced workforce who do not know laws and regulations and will make/change rules on the fly to take advantage of their employees.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate much of what you say, but I do have some disagreements. Thanks for the Pros. I agree that you'll never find a better early-career resume booster than from ASC, especially as a mechanical engineer. You'll learn tons of stuff and gain very good skill at design, analysis, project management, resource planning, and lots of other stuff. As for the Cons, I agree with your first point, however for points 2-4, I feel you're seeing this incorrectly. Let me explain. 2. ASC tries to build strong values in our employees, especially the young people who join our team. We want to teach our employees to communicate properly, care about each other, and offer help when it's needed. We are looking to foster leadership. When engineers fail to live up these values, we try to speak with them a correct them. This is how you create a great company with great people. 2/3. Social media. Our managers and HR teams are trained to recognize when employees ight be having a difficult time at work, or are unhappy with their job. To gain this understanding, we regularly talk to employees, and we also check whether employees are "looking for another job". So, you are correct that we regularly look to recruiting sites to see who might be looking, and then use that knowledge to find out what we're doing wrong and what we might be able to do to keep them. The goal is always to keep our employees - not to let them go. We do not check Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or any similar social media. We only check Indeed, Zip Recruiter, Glassdoor, and similar recruiting sites. 4. This is untrue. We do not prey on anyone, including younger employees. Actually, our new younger employees get a higher level of attention and frequency of raises and promotions than those who have been here longer. However, I will say that we don't treat young employees as children. We treat them as professional adjusts and have expectations that they will work as professional adults. This can be jarring to some younger engineers who are not familiar with being given firm expectations and then having to meet those expectations. In my view, each engineer who works or ASC is a High Achievement Star and we that's how we treat them. Anyway, thanks again for the review. I hope you find the type of job that makes you happy.
