Pros

Good company, owner is trying to give more to his employees,he's got a good heart if you are a good employee you will be rewarded. safety is great in ASC, I really appreciate what they had done.

Cons

Owner values more loyalty than skills has too many people overmatched on their positions,he doesn't listen to anybody from the floor, there are many issues. Fear doesn't means respect that is what all his managers need to understand.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate the Pros and the Cons and certainly will use your feedback to try to improve our company. As you know, ASC strongly believes in a balance between "values" and "performance" when evaluating employees. What this means is that your skill as a fabricator is important to us, but we are also interested in the values you bring to the workplace. Values include team work, positive attitude, safety awareness, quality focus, and other non-performance attributes. You mention me valuing "loyalty" over "skills". You are partially correct on this. For years I have pushed our managers to value those employees who play a positive role at ASC, are generally happy with their job, and are generally happy with the company. No one likes to work with negative people, and I'm no different. We still certainly want everyone at ASC to have great performance and skill, but it's not the only thing that's important to us. As for comment about "doesn't listen to anybody on from the floor" and "Fear doesn't mean respect", I appreciate your openness on this comment. ASC's management works every day to improve how we communicate to employees, but this doesn't mean we always get it right. The stress of production, schedules, and manpower can often create situations where managers and supervisors don't not listen to the employee when they should and/or don't treat the employee with proper respect when issuing directives. We're all people and people make mistakes, but I can tell you that we are working every day to reduce these issues and correct the behavior that creates discontent. Thanks again for your review.

Thanks for the review. I'm sorry that your employment at our company didn't work out for you. I would like to correct a few items for the record. ASC does, in fact, have a yearly end-of-year monetary gift to employees based on their performance, company profit, and other factors. The amount can range from a couple hundred dollars to over ten thousand dollars depending on the employees position, their performance, and their contribution to ASC's success that year. As an engineer, you would have certainly received this, but maybe you forgot. As for engineering salaries, ASC salaries are commensurate and often higher than those offered at similar manufacturing firms in the greater Los Angeles area. Lastly, work-life balance is important to ASC and as such we allow salaried employees reasonable flexibility in their start times and work day duration. There is no fixed start time. Some engineers choose to work 40 hrs per week while others work more hours based on their own, independent decisions. Best of luck to you in your pursuits.

Pros

I've worked as a fabricator for a few years now and have seen lots of improvement in that time. Compared to my last company they are very strong on safety. The pay and benefits is good, but they also do other stuff for the employees like a yearly fishing trip, picnic, parties, and a recent bowling event (it was a blast). The work is fast paced and challenging. When I started I didn't know anything about autoclaves, but now I'm a lead and I've built two autoclaves on my own and have lead a team on larger ones. They have lots of work and if you like overtime there is plenty. They also have improved quality and you can see employees spending more time making sure the work is perfect. They are also expanding and just bought another building down the road. We're told they will be putting in a gym and game room for the employees, so that will be another pro.

Cons

It's sometimes tough to get material and drawings for jobs. The engineers need to put drawings out on time instead of at the last minute. The shop manager tends to pull people from jobs when other jobs get behind. This can screw up your own job. Its sometimes difficult to get welding machines and curtains. please buy more. Field work can be tough on families if your on a long field job.
