Pros

Great group of people, good salary, bonuses and good 401k match. Smaller firm with big projects.

Cons

Management is not looking for any feedback, they don’t really take into consideration what their employees want. Not a very professional environment overall which can be frustrating. Even in annual reviews, I felt like I couldn’t be honest because management would get defensive and wouldn’t listen. Lack of structure and standards between offices. All the offices do things completely differently but it is still expected that you can jump in to help another office if needed. No onboarding process at all for new employees. Not very flexible with work from home or when people got covid.

Pros

ASD SF has had great projects in the past. Fast-paced design work meant you got a lot of projects under your belt quickly. Tons of great mentorship from talented intermediate and senior designers. Fun happy hours in a good economy. Willing to pay fair market salaries if you negotiate for it. Great 401K match.

Cons

Leadership's management style is unprofessional and can be extremely negative and often inappropriate. Talented designers have to move on when they can no longer grow under the most dominant of leadership and that turnover leads to less mentorship and loss of client relationships that bring in exciting projects. There's a lack of transparency around finances including company and project health; it's not uncommon to not know your project's financial health until it's already woefully unprofitable. Not nearly enough design technology resources for a firm the size of ASD. No real HR department.

Pros

-Flexible work hours (9-4 core hours Mon-Thursday, & 9-12 F, the rest of the 40 hrs are up to you) -Friendly administrative, HR, marketing, and finance staff that are always willing to answer questions -Design teams are helpful, supportive and fun -High caliber projects -LOTS of free food (lunch & learns every Monday & Tuesday, happy hour every Thursday) -Swag galore! (I'm talking an ASD|SKY backpack filled to the brim with other ASD|SKY gear. -Competitive salaries - Amazing Benefits package

Cons

-Little to no training upon start of job -Disconnect in workflow between design team memebers (Office is leaning towards Revit but several stubborn designers refuse to leave AutoCAD in the dust) -It was difficult to get a sense of team member seniority upon starting (who is principal, associate, senior designer, intermediate, and junior? This was frustrating at first but works itself out with in the first couple of weeks)
