Upper management is out of touch

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

The employee discount is great and the products are good quality.

Cons

The pay if you aren't in management is dismal and the corporate office refuses to acknowledge this. Upper management continues to get raises and bonuses while the people selling the product aren't even getting cost of living adjustments. The corporate office continues to push sales goals, but is pushing online sales to all customers and even wants employees to push signing up for an online program (no benefits, just signing up for advertisements that only work for online). The stores are moving towards basically being mini-warehouses for online. You will get berated by customers and management does not care. You can follow every corporate policy but if the customer doesn't like that, you will get reprimanded for following policy.

Leadership Challenged

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Great culture when leadership isn't churning. Company honestly values work/life balance, even if it doesn't fully understand how to support it well.

Cons

Leadership is constantly churning. The workforce is desperate for stability. Ironically, the closer you can get to the Japanese parent, the more stable your career will be, yet the Japanese parent imposing a poorly informed strategy in the US is exactly why US leadership is under constant churn and workforce feels unstable.

Pros

The product is unique and the office is new.

Cons

Abhorrent pay discrepancies between male and female counterparts, sexist/racist leadership that focuses on white male success, no care towards social welfare in our current political climate, and irresponsible management of COVID practices in the office.
