Pros

This company employs highly qualified engineers and pursue the Cutting Edge Technology in their field. Very professional and at the top of the game.

Cons

This is a very competitive business which has to endure periodic downturns which result in cyclic employment for most of the staff.

Decent company.

Pros

ASM is an ethical company with a not yet overwhelming bureaucracy. The environment tends perhaps to be somewhat less political than at other companies. The work is generally interesting although frequent (perhaps unnecessary) fire drills sometimes taint the work environment a bit. The salary and benefits are decent.

Cons

Unless you are in the Netherlands, your opportunities for advancement are limited. This is especially true for technical employees not interested in management (this problem is of course not unique to ASML). The employee ranking system pretends to foster career development but does not. There is limited opportunity for top-performers outside of management to be compensated accordingly since the ranking system is designed to cluster everyone towards average.

Pros

ASML offers great opportunities. Ideas are taken seriously. Good salaries and benefits such (any thing from bicycle, study, training, health care, pension, profit share etc) People are motivated to work through the entire company in their careers.

Cons

In development, due to the scale of the activities, jobs get dull or overcrowded with maintenance activities. Unrealistic plans are enforced to motivate people to get the job done.
