Pros

Great organization doing wonderful work for animals. The accomplishments of the entire organization makes you proud to work for them.

Cons

Upper management continues to keep and reward mid-level managers that do not support their staff nor enable them to do their best work. There are constant barriers in place and lots of managers that are afraid of being challenged, so they push employees down rather than encourage them.

Pros

You are working for an organization that helps animals, benefits are really good. Seriously, really good benefits. If you work at 8th Ave or Community Medicine, people seem happy.

Cons

MANAGEMENT, the management is terrible. Inexperienced, incompetent, and do not try to make people happy and don't seem to really care about the animals, only care about numbers. Pay could be better. Honestly, I would have rather made more money than have great benefits. No room for growth. Also notice that I said 'helps' animals above and not 'saves' animals. This is not a no-kill shelter, they euthanize animals... Immature employees (understandable for entry level positions) and immature managers (not understandable because management should not be entry level. 20 year olds or people with GEDs who have 'retail management' experience should not manage a LARGE shelter environment.) . The environment is just toxic. HR (or, the people team, as they now call themselves, eyeroll) isn't helpful. They listen, but don't do. If you work anywhere but 8th Ave or Community Medicine, you will be miserable.
