Great mission, bad culture

Pros

Great mission. The work was incredibly rewarding

Cons

The culture in my department was very toxic, stemming from toxic leadership. By the time I left, turnover was at an all-time high due to low pay and emotional burnout. No opportunities for growth. Personally, I also believe, after seeing many things firsthand, that the ASPCA wastes donor money in many unnecessary ways. Much of it is spent well, but much of it is not.

Pros

The benefits are wonderful and my coworkers were some of the best people I've ever met.

Cons

Just another corporation that cares more about profits than employees. Management has 0 clue what we do at poison control. Constant stat pushing with the reasoning, "to help more animals". In reality it's to make them more money. 90% of employees aren't even meeting stats. New hires make the same or more as employees that have been there for years. Employees have been fired for calling management out on their actions. They track your every move.

Pros

Thinking you're making a difference in an organization that can have a huge impact on animal welfare while also being treated like complete trash in the process.

Cons

This company starts you off feeling good and then they slowly break you down and exploit your hard work for sub pay. Don't expect to ever move up within this company if you are not white and or ever decide to voice your opinions. A lot of money is generated but who is it really going to? Not the workers doing the hard work or the animals. Do better.
