Pros

Thinking you're making a difference in an organization that can have a huge impact on animal welfare while also being treated like complete trash in the process.

Cons

This company starts you off feeling good and then they slowly break you down and exploit your hard work for sub pay. Don't expect to ever move up within this company if you are not white and or ever decide to voice your opinions. A lot of money is generated but who is it really going to? Not the workers doing the hard work or the animals. Do better.

Pros

- If you're passionate about animals, this is a great place values-wise. -Training is in-depth and extensive. I appreciated the one-on-one training and wealth of resources available for learning. -Managers are involved with their direct reports. -Decent benefits, pay is better than most vet assistant positions

Cons

-Benefits - there's some good and some bad. Pay increases incredibly slowly. With this past year's inflation of 7%, the annual raises were around ~3% for most staff at our location. When you consider the base pay, this is small incremental growth, and when you consider inflation, you start losing money over time. I said pay is good for vet assistants, but vet assistants are typically paid very little in other businesses. Compared to positions outside the vet field, the pay is not really competitive for the amount of work/energy required for it. There's a good bit of time off available, but often when I used time off I was reminded that "the A does not do unpaid time off" as something to keep in mind if I ever used up all my time off. I was never told what would happen if I did use all my time off and needed unpaid time off. -Employee morale was low and we were very unstaffed when I was here. -Work is very physically demanding.
