Under paid with too many responsibilities

Pros

Obviously a pro of the job were being able to help animals get a forever home. A lot of opportunity for growth if you stuck around long enough.

Cons

Everyone there was underpaid. And I was thrown into a situation that I was not prepared for while I was still in training. Not only was this dangerous for me but it was unfair for the animals.

Pros

- Opportunities to work with animals - plenty of staff members with good intentions - benefits/401k

Cons

They will force you to “resign” if you deny an experimental medical treatment and if you seek an exemption they won’t allow you to travel, meet with your colleagues, or attend any professional events. Oh but if you want to get an abortion they will pay for all expenses/travel — they want to make sure you’re back at work as soon as possible because their maternity leave (1 month paid) is laughable. This org treats mothers and women who want to have families like garbage. Super progressive of them. If you want to work for a nonprofit that takes pride in their work AND their employees, this is not the place. Internal politics have ruined the ASPCA.
