Could change for better

Pros

Big push to bring the company to modern days. Low pressure, Flexible hours (At least where I worked) You can wow people by talking about the end application of the products manufactured. Good 401K plan from time to time (Disclaimer: It can change anytime) Good company to work for few years (The learning will slow down very soon).

Cons

No diversity in products and customers, very narrow marketability of the job experience. Things you learn in this company is usable only in this company. Hence low employee turnover and stagnant culture. Many managers joined this company in 1980's and have no outside experience and they learnt from their managers who worked in this company thru out their career, hence the managers have very little to offer in terms of career advice. (Things are starting to change very slowly). Very non transparent culture, performance reviews and talent evaluation needs lot of grass root improvement. Very risk averse culture.

Pros

People are easy to get along with and job is not difficult to learn.

Cons

Bad work/life balance. Shifts that rotate every five days, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with only one day off in between the rotations causing your sleep, eating, and exercise habits to be chaotic, resulting in a very unhealthy lifestyle both mentally and physically and also low employee morale. Also not a job for anyone that has or is wanting to start a family, the schedule causes difficulty in finding time for your kids and spouse. Weekend or monthly trips to your camp, if you have one, will be impossible. Healthcare benefits are not very good; no prescription coverage and high deductibles.

Pros

Benefits are okay...they have slowly been getting worse in the last 3 years

Cons

This is honestly the worst company I've ever worked at and it would be nice to see a complete leadership overhaul here at the VP and Director level. I wish corporate would have cared to come in and look at the leadership before all of strong leaders and employees left. Poor business and growth plan Ridiculous hours because they don't backfill positions after somebody leaves or are laid off... if you stay there long enough you might just get to be a VP since there is so much turnover!! lack of communication lack of direction or strategy In the last 5 years they tried to increase employee and manager development and it has flopped in the last year. Seems like HR is going back to being administrative rather than focused on employee development or caring about employees. Even the HR team has lost 5 or 6 folks in their dept in the last year. They don't seem to care about long-term employees and will cut them easily. I feel bad for the employees that have dedicated their whole career here and then are taken out swiftly when they don't fit in here anymore.
