Good People, Below-Average Pay

Pros

People are great, lots of brilliant engineers and technicians. Get to work with interesting metal alloys, if you’re into metallurgy. Good safety culture.

Cons

Poor pay compared to similar companies. HR is happy being middle of the pack or behind the pack on all issues. Benefits are slowly being deteriorated.

Pros

Plenty of opportunities to prove yourself and you abilities. Sometimes rewarding work. Company has made changes to move in a profitable/sustainable direction. Compensation is good compared to similar roles in industry.

Cons

Be aware of union work stoppages every few years. If you perform well, management and HR will try to hold you in positions and not let you advance to new opportunities. Certain departments have HORRIBLE communication from management. HR is more worried about keeping numbers of employees rather than letting experienced people take positions they want
