Great Place, Career Growth Questionable

Pros

Everyone in the company is focused on the same goal: provide great experiences for the customers. While the execution of that goal may vary, there is more interdepartmental communication at AWeber than I've seen at any other company I've worked for. Teams are rarely "siloed" and it's a great place to learn from your coworkers. The benefits are awesome, 100% company paid health premium + 50% of deductible covered for both individuals and families through an HSA contribution. Free chef-prepared lunches everyday and flexible & empathetic towards personal situations as they come up.

Cons

Advancement opportunities are frustratingly inconsistent. While promotions are not unheard of, they were for me. The company ethos is "We're not going to give you a promotion, you need to earn a promotion. Do the job you're looking to get." Ok, no problem, but if I take on more responsibility and build a case behind how a change in structure can help me better accomplish my work, I would expect some action behind that plan. Unfortunately, we didn't see eye to eye on what promotion looked like, or the timeline behind it, so when a new opportunity presented itself, it made it hard to choose to stay.

Fantastic Opportunity For Growth

Pros

There are countless aspects of working at AWeber that are like no other companies. One of my favorite parts about working at AWeber would be that your voice matters. Unlike the majority of companies, everyone at AWeber has a voice, and that voice definitely matters to leadership. AWeber provides all of its employees with the opportunity to grow their skill sets each day. Whether it be working alongside subject matter experts or receiving specific career pathing to transition to another role in the company, AWeber is always there to help. The only caveat to this is that you must take it upon yourself to ask for what you need/are looking for. Additionally, you need to be patient in order to sharpen your knowledge before you can expect to advance. Even if your desired position in the company does not become available, you can rest easy knowing that you've developed your skill set to be qualified at said position elsewhere. AWeber puts the employees first - time and time again.

Cons

The company used to have a better health insurance plan available to employees about a year ago, but the current health insurance plan is still grades better than anyone else I know in the workplace. It certainly isn't a bad thing to go from an "A+" grade to an "A" grade.

Pros

I love my job. Why? I'm glad you asked: * This is the he smartest and most fun team I've worked on. Ever. Across the board, in every department my team is proactive and always seeking to do remarkable things. * I am continually challenged (in a positive way). * My ideas, input, and feedback are welcomed and encouraged * I feel trusted and empowered to better my craft to ultimately provide a product that serves our customers well. * The benefits are amazing. * I don't feel like I'm in a race to 'out-meeting' or 'out-email' someone to be successful. * Delicious, option-filled lunch available every day. * Ability to sit around the building - I'm not chained to my gray cubicle all day.

Cons

Did I mention I love my job? The thing about a job is you work with people. So, we have our share of challenges too: * Not everyone is the same in communication or thinking style - which can be a great thing! Sometimes, however, this makes the flat organizational structure challenging. * The flip side to being invited to bring ideas is we don't have a charismatic visionary charting out the course. If you're looking for one person to layout the path and give you marching orders, this may not be the place for you. * I wish we could move faster, which takes more people. So if your reading this - you should check out our open positions! www.aweber.jobs * We're an Agile shop working to hit our process stride. We're not there yet, but making great progress.
