Pros

Extremely smart/bright people, global focus, collegial atmosphere. The investment management equivalent of working for the best of the high tech start-ups.... good and bad.

Cons

At the time, the organization's investment process was founder-driven and opaque, based on a complex computer algorithm process using a relatively obscure object-oriented computer language (Eiffel). This lead to an undetected error in the firm's computer model and much turmoil in the firm and loss of many clients and a large percentage of assets (and of many good people). Management tried its best to guide the firm through the turmoil, but there was only so much it could do.....
