Good benefits, no room for growth

Pros

There were many pros to working for this company. Was very family oriented. And the people throughout the organization were a pleasure to work with. The health benefits were good. And the 401k plan was superior. Sick time plus rolling vacation time.

Cons

The downside was the sales goals were lofty. Leading to little bonus potential. Raises just weren't there even if you were schedule adherent and sales growth was documented. Needless to say, don't expect to make much or promote anytime in the future. Most positions are dead end. And the hours subpart.

Pros

Great customers / guests. Great employees.

Cons

3 GMs, 2 RMs in less than 1 year. Hostile work environment seems to be the current company operations m.o. Good on-line training but GM's fail to execute on company policies. Don't contact HR your inevitable demise is guaranteed. My mistake was not researching recruiting sites / consumer sites before taking a position with Aaron's.

Innovate. Learn. Lead.

Pros

Tons of autonomy and room to innovate. Large company w/ big scale to learn about new technology challenges. New technologies are embraced if started in smaller areas to learn in first then scale. Failure is encouraged as long as it is followed by learning which can really accelerate personal growth. Flexible work schedule coupled with interesting impactful work. Awesome teammates that want everyone succeed. Politics are not allowed. Relatively flat org structure where title is less important in discussions. Best ideas always win not the high paid person.

Cons

Depends on your viewpoint. Some folks would see things I see as pros as cons. For example, the work here isn't handed to you in a bulleted list. We are expected to understand the business problem and come up with a viable solution. I enjoy that creative flexibility and responsibility it puts on me. Some folks might not. Not all of our work falls into that bucket but the successful folks find a way to make it happen and it's the most rewarding part of the job to me.
