      Pros

      At Abbott Vascular, you will learn about the process of developing medical devices, the various agencies involved in getting devices approved, the many aspects of the business environment that effect product decisions and the politics of a medical device company.

      Cons

      Abbott Vascular is not interested in supporting R&D and as a result hardly any products reach the launch stage. Middle management is self-serving and do not work in the best interest of the business - there are very few manager remaining who work in the interest of the company to support their best employees. They would rather demoralize anyone who appears to show strengths that they themselves do not have.

      Pros

      It is a company founded on caring for people and trying to make their lives better through health care.

      Cons

      There are two strata within the company. 1) Those who are below mid-management who are expected (and usually do) produce measurable results which contribute to the bottom line. 2) Mid-management and above who spend 99% of their time playing political power games and contributing nothing to the company (and at the same time making the work of the first group harder).

      Pros

      Some of the best reasons to work at ADC are: job security, opportunity for advancement, compensation and benefits, and the chance to work in an industry where your work directly impacts quality of life for diabetic patients. At ADC, employees understand the importance of their work.

      Cons

      Location in Alameda, CA is not ideal. Campus is drab and uninspiring. Organization tends to work in silos and not collaborate well across functional areas. While this is not atypical of large companies, poor collaboration and communication are major challenges for this company. Senior management should take steps to address these challenges in the company culture.
