Very poor management, everything-now-all-the-time.

Pros

Employees are open about how poor the state of affairs are. Good products but older generation. How can SJM acquisition save stents?

Cons

After company wide massive IT layoffs & disconnected enterprise systems, expect to call 800 # for any and every need & be put in a queue. HR, finance are scant, expect to call Chicago for a lot of help. Not strategic & not cohesive management leads to multiple wasted efforts and last minute rush on all efforts. No training for new managers, no on-boarding assistance or requirements, everyone fend for yourself. In-fighting & low morale completely tolerated. Overall, archaic systems, poor middle & upper management, lagging behind in product development. Look elsewhere.

Abbott Hematology - Employee Beware

Business Outlook

Pros

The individual contributors at this organization are great, hard-working folks.

Cons

There are WAY too many chiefs. The Sr Leadership is horrible. There is no concern or respect for the employees. The management team believes people are robots and should be at their beck and call 24/7. The culture at Abbott Hematology in Santa Clara is toxic and there is no desire to change the culture.

Pros

Benefits, ability to hide in a big company, salary, health insurance, 401k, stock options, networking with other divisions, anyone can get in apparently, easy interview process

Cons

Lack of proper leadership, existing leadership is allowed bad behavior due to lack of other options, or "seniority" . lean environment (1 person doing 2 people's jobs) no understanding of work/life balance. Gossip environment heavy within even the leadership level. Stressful environment always. Lack of IT and admin support, so plan to troubleshoot your own issues. Taking on SJM acquisition will cause all matters to worsen.
