Pros

Free lunches - but now it feels more like high school. if you get to the kitchen and are first in line each day, your manager will be talked to about you not being a good penguin. ( ridiculous but true) Great people who work very hard to make this company successful. Open seating is good and bad. Some departments are extremely loud and are not respectful of others attempting to work, but don’t mention it as then you are not being a team player and don’t “fit” ( yes managers have said this out loud)

Cons

Removal of certain positions from bonus pool participation was a HUGE. surprise this year. In years past all of the penguins (employees) were eligible but 2019 brought big changes of non eligibility. I don’t recall this being announced at a Company Huddle. Why would you only allow Some if your people to participate when we all take on more duties and hard work? With the various acquisitions the work has certainly increased but there no additional pay as that is not considered “over and above” performance . Don’t plan on increases even if the volume of work doubles/triples.

Thanks for your feedback. I certainly agree that we've got great people/Penguins and can agree that there are pros/cons to open seating. I would encourage you to discuss any noise issues with your manager or HR if you've talked to the offending Penguins and haven't gotten the response you want. After all, it's always best to treat others as you would like to be treated by having the respect and courtesy to talk to them directly. We can all agree on that. I'm surprised by your two primary criticisms, but will nonetheless address them so that anyone reading this gets the actual real facts and story. First, free lunches. We offer those in the Austin office. Other offices have different perks and we try customize and differentiate based on the desires/needs/requirements of each office. For example, Raleigh has dogs in the office but not in Austin. Austin lunches are buffet style and intended to foster camaraderie, teamwork, and convenience (there are no convenient restaurant options immediately around the building like there are in Raleigh). Consistent with that purpose and our values, we ask Penguins to be respectful, courteous, and considerate of their teammates (see paragraph one). We have customer facing Penguins (and others) who are often on the phone or tied to their desk when lunch is served and can't get there immediately like the reviewer. One of our values is Love for Others, which includes serving each other and showing respect/courtesy for one another. The reviewer and members of their team were obviously asked by their manager to live our values and not go first every day in the lunch line and maybe allow others a chance. Seems reasonable to me and I support the manager in this action. After all, if you saw the same handful of people going first every single day and sitting only in their own clique without interacting with anyone else (like high school), wouldn't you say something too? As CEO, I will look out for all Penguins and ensure that our hard working, customer facing Penguins get to take a break and have lunch with us. It's a shame I have to deal with a comment like this on Glassdoor when there are so many more serious issues to address. The second concern raised in the review that requires a response is regarding removal of certain Penguins from the bonus pool. What the reviewer is referring to is a change effective January 1st, 2019. Prior to that, every Bankers Toolbox and Mainstreet Technology Penguin was on a bonus plan. When we pulled these companies together (including Sageworks, which did not have a bonus plan), we launched Abrigo and created the new Abrigo bonus plan. We got outside help for this and adopted recommendations and best practice. The primary change is that Penguins with relatively small bonus targets (typically 5-8% of their base pay) had that amount rolled back into their base pay effective 1/1/19. That's right, their base pay WENT UP and was no longer variable or at risk. So the reviewer is disingenuous regarding this change. Of course, there was a rationale for the change and that was explained as well. I've not heard a single complaint about this change (quite the opposite actually) and our total compensation costs went UP, not down, as a result of the new Abrigo bonus roll out. Further, this change was communicated at the company level, to our managers, by managers to their team, and then with a personal letter to every single Penguin that was affected outlining their specific changes. I'm not quite certain how the reviewer could have missed all that or be so misinformed. But I can assure the reader that this is an outlier. My apologies for the long response, but I try to be transparent and thorough when responding to concerns, especially when they are not factual or warranted. I always own and accept feedback on these reviews. But every now and then it requires a detailed response to a review in order to get all the facts out there. When it comes to protecting our culture and our Penguins, I make no apologies and will defend and promote Abrigo with all that I have. And despite the reviewers comment, I take pride in walking the talk. We are building something special together, growing rapidly, and creating a great company and culture. I hope the reviewer will come chat with me or someone about their concerns now or in the future. For those reading this, I hope the explanations make sense and help better understand our company. Pros

This is a great place to start your career. From the beginning, I've always had a ton of responsibility and I have always been encouraged to take responsibility for projects that I want to be a part of. I really do feel like you "create your own destiny" here. That being said, it's incredibly important to be that go-getter in order to get what you want. I feel like the company really cares about my career goals and I love the people that I work with. These are some of the most intelligent, friendly people you will ever meet! I also really believe the company cares about work/life balance. They have very high expectations for their employees, but their benefits plan shows that they care and they trust us. Be prepared to work, but you can also expect to benefit from the hard work you put in.

Cons

There are some kinks that still need to be worked out in regards to the vision of the company and the ways that the three companies (Banker's Toolbox, MST, and Sageworks) will be coming together, but I'm optimistic that will come with time. Individually, these have been successful companies, so I believe that combined they'll be even stronger, it just feels a little disjointed right now.

Thanks so much for the feedback and really excited to see reviews from our Raleigh Office. Bringing our companies together as Abrigo is our goal to foster our mission to be the Enterprise Risk Management Partner of Choice for Americas Community Financial Institutions. I love spending time in Raleigh and will be there more regularly now (you should have noticed that even since the review was written). The feedback office is always open, so come by and chat when I am there. In the meantime, thanks for all you do serving our customers! Best regards, Wayne Roberts Chief Executive Officer - Abrigo

Pros

Honest culture, great people, challenging work, transparency, excellent leadership. These are just a few of the reasons I’m so happy in my job. We hold ourselves to high standards, which makes the work challenging and rewarding, while treating each other in a way that fosters collaboration and development. No one is sacrificing the culture in the name of results, and no one is sacrificing results in the name of culture. There is a high bar on both and in my experience, it’s working. The growth is strong and I know that I am making contributions that matter. I am excited driving to the office each day. For me, those are the pros that really matter but the icing on the cake is that each of our locations have perks that are meant to make our lives a little easier. We have lunch provided everyday in Austin and Cornelia, and in Raleigh people can bring their dogs to work. Abrigo was a destination-employer for me and I expect that to be a growing trend. It’s a great place to work.

Cons

No organization is perfect and there are some growing pains that come with the fast paced trajectory we are on (as there would be with any company). I see those as opportunities rather than challenges or cons because our leadership is open and honest about our opportunities for improvement, and transparent about how we will address them. No surprises.

Thanks for the feedback. Positive feedback only drives us to continue improving. We pride ourselves on transparency and communication. Personally, it is something that drives me and, as you well know, I often tend to over communicate :) We will continue driving growth, managing through change, and ensuring our Penguins understand the "why". We get results through people, not in spite of them. Its a guiding principle and that won't ever change. Keep up the great work and glad to have you in the Huddle!
