Pros

Peers were amazing for the most part

Cons

An article was recently published about record growth at Absorb, what wasn't published was how employees suffered to make that happen: 1. At the beginning of the pandemic, Absorb laid off employees from almost every department, as the demand for an LMS went up, those still employed quickly became overworked due to the cuts, which I'm sure most wouldn't have minded, if there had been any appreciation from leadership. 2. Also during the pandemic, Absorb chose to change the 35 hour work week to a 40 hour work week. They then informed us that our wages and hours would be reduced. For teams reduced by 10%, they were now working 36 hours a week for 10% less pay. An extra hour a week for 10% less during a mentally and financially exhausting global pandemic. 3. Absorb also completely stopped contributing to employee RRSP until the end of 2020. 4. They also decided to "revamp the bonus structure". Bonuses were originally given in December, because of the restructure, the bonus was delayed until February 2021. This means that employees did not get a bonus in all of 2020. This is a company that shows zero empathy and appreciation from a disgustingly selfish Senior Leadership team. The way that the pandemic was handled, in a year of record growth for this company, is absolutely unbelievable. The employees deserve better.

Pros

2019 Christmas party was impressive. Snacks, pre-covid. Some cool people.

Cons

Absorb made unnecessary lay offs that crippled teams across the org, cut employee salaries/hours/bonuses, froze wages and lowered benefits while crying the Covid card all year as their excuse. On their website they broadcasted lies to customers that they were not impacted by Covid, while expecting employees to deal with increased workload with lower pay/workforce. Despite this, promotions were granted to higher ups, and executives brag about breaking sales records and being an entire quarter ahead of target since Covid made the industry boom. Nepotism is RIDICULOUS in this company. They formed an inclusion committee that required an application, and the obvious favourites made the cut. The inclusion committee doesn't even have proper representation across different demographics, so don't bother asking about diversity across Management. Senior Management preaches transparency and an open door policy, but will punish those who use it (Good talent was laid off at the start of Covid, and I would bet money they were the few willing to speak out). Makes promises to clients that they don't have the resources to maintain, yet expect the org to somehow deliver. On the flip side, will constantly makes promises to employees they won't keep, and provides poor lies that further insults them by thinking they can't see through the dishonesty.
