Pros

Great system in place to become a paramedic and not have to pay up front. For the most part, the people you work with are good medics. Pay is average. management opportunities are there.

Cons

Terrible and dangerous medics don't get fired as long as they show up to work and pick up overtime shifts. even if they do something so stupid as to hurt or even kill a patients. So if you are a terrible medic you will have job security. Meanwhile, the rest of us have to deal with picking up the slack of those medics.

Pros

Benefits. That is the only thing worth saying about this company, and they are not the best. Horrible vacation allotment each year. Good luck getting them to approve your few hours of vacation each year anyway.

Cons

Unacceptable management. No accountability for employee actions in southwest Louisiana. Absolutely no actions taken against paramedics for subpar patient care. This company focuses on short term employment in order to avoid higher paid employees. They will give you guilt trips on your days off to cover other people's shifts. If this is your only path to becoming a paramedic, then use this company as a stepping stone. If you have a sense of community, do not work here, this company does not care about your community. Acadian has also dumbed down their protocol to allow the lowest common denominator to function in an acadian uniform.
