Pros

Great system in place to become a paramedic and not have to pay up front. For the most part, the people you work with are good medics. Pay is average. management opportunities are there.

Cons

Terrible and dangerous medics don't get fired as long as they show up to work and pick up overtime shifts. even if they do something so stupid as to hurt or even kill a patients. So if you are a terrible medic you will have job security. Meanwhile, the rest of us have to deal with picking up the slack of those medics.

Helping others in need and some really great co-workers

Cons

Low pay for the work load, tons of transports especially psych transports. Fast burn out. Extremely high deductible for benefits, and benefits package is pretty much useless. Deductible was over half of what I made a month.
