Pros

The patients and coworkers were wonderful

Cons

I worked for Accent Care for several years and consistently demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and commitment to my patients and the organization. I took pride in my work and maintained strong relationships with both patients and colleagues. Over time, however, the working conditions became increasingly difficult. As a registered nurse, many of my visits were reassigned to LPNs, which significantly reduced my workload and, ultimately, my income. Because we were paid per point, there were frequent days when there were not enough points available to meet a sustainable income. This often forced staff to use PTO simply to make up for low census, which should not be necessary for full-time employees. As a result, I had to take on a second job just to meet basic financial obligations. This created unnecessary stress and is not a reflection of a stable or supportive work environment. Additionally, communication from management was lacking. Concerns about scheduling, workload distribution, and financial instability were not adequately addressed. There was little transparency and minimal effort to support staff during these challenges. While I value the experience I gained and the patients I cared for, I believe there are significant opportunities for improvement in staff support, communication, and fair distribution of visits. A more balanced and transparent system would greatly benefit both employees and patient care outcomes. When a healthcare company is owned by a private equity that is making hundreds of millions of dollars while the staff is underpaid it's a travesty.

We DO have awesome coworkers! Thank you so much for taking on admissions duties while we currently work to fill the Admissions RN in Ontario! We posted the opening last week (March 23) and have interviews scheduled.

Pros

• Opportunity to gain exposure to healthcare operations • Some team members were supportive despite leadership challenges

Cons

I was hired in May as a Business Operations Manager and found the role to be highly disorganized with unclear and often contradictory expectations. I was expected to manage both operations and admissions, then criticized for not performing one or the other adequately. Leadership behavior was a significant concern. There was frequent gossip and unprofessional conduct, including negative discussions about staff during meetings. In one instance, a manager openly criticized a nurse on a call, not realizing she was present, and later attempted to backtrack while involving me in the situation. My direct manager’s guidance was inconsistent. Work that had been reviewed and approved would later be criticized publicly in meetings, which felt undermining. Instructions were often incomplete, and expectations would shift without clear communication. Even basic expectations—such as whether to take lunch or breaks—were inconsistent, and I received conflicting feedback regardless of what I did. Training and support were limited. I was discouraged from seeking help from others, even when senior leadership encouraged cross-team collaboration, which made it difficult to succeed in the role. After raising concerns with HR about workplace treatment, I was terminated on the 89th day of my 90-day probation period without a clear explanation. I had also declined to sign an evaluation I believed was inaccurate and communicated that concern to corporate leadership. In my opinion, these events contributed to my termination.

Thank you for leaving a thoughtful review. The scenario you described is not the experience we want for our people. There are a number of concerns here that don't align with the workplace we want to create. Thank you again. We'll address these from our end in the hopes that future people's experiences will be better.
