30 year old startup that is coming back

Pros

What is impressed me here the most are the teams and dedication to the overall success of the company and each other. I myself, truly enjoy the work I do here. My previous company was so toxic that this was such a breath of fresh air. This is an environment that went through some turmoil but came back strong and is continually improving. - Very good outlook for the company. - Donut/Bagel Friday - End of the month lunch to show appreciation for working hard. - Avanti market account credited money each month to provide a random snack. - Healthy Snack Cart. Compensation and bonuses are competitive and so many sales reps have stayed here years and even come back. Developers openly talk about their work on something they believe in (forensic tools to help put criminals away) and not a new startup fad. From what I have seen there, they also provide a competitive wage. Leadership has impressed me quite a bit with actually knowing what they are doing and working to provide professional development and milestone goals to reach your next level. It is an environment that you get to make a mark as it is building itself back up.

Cons

I was very hesitant about this place due to all the negative glassdoor reviews. You must note that they did have major layoffs a few years back. They have not had any such issues since, but it leaves a bad taste in many peoples' mouths. They company did go through some turmoil and it doesn't offer the best benefits or retirement plans out there. It only just began offering 401k. People have been here for many years and some may have a bit of a cynical mentality due to all that they have seen. But for even then they work to get the job done and work with others without trying to form any clicks. Software is not as easy to learn as it is a narrow field you work in. A lot of improvements are being made so there are some waiting games that go on until it can be completed.

We are a smaller organization, which does have it's advantages, and we truly are fortunate to have cohesive groups across the organization who are solidly behind AccessData's vision and products. Our 401k (since you mention it) has been in place for 10+ years and we have close to $6 Million in assets. We do annual studies to ensure that we offer competitive benefits and wages for a company our size. We have a great 2018 ahead of us with advancements in existing as well as new product rollouts -- full steam ahead!

Pros

Positive managers that want you to be happy, good pay for the area, benefits are standard

Cons

Company is located in Utah, I am one of only a few east coast employees, benefits are barebones standard, management often is hands off because I am contracted out

Pros

I worked at access Data for about 8 years and I can tell you it is a great place to work. It is definitely a sink or swim kind of work environment. Also felt if you are willing to work hard you can move up quickly. In addition, the products are good and the market is really interesting.

Cons

If you don’t want to work hard this is not the best place for you. There is not a lot of structure so if you are looking for that would seriously consider going to a larger company.

We offer a lot of opportunity to anyone willing to give 100% and look for that type of personality when seeking new talent for sales, development, operations, etc. There are always pros as well as cons working for a smaller organization, and I hope that you have a great experience overall.
