Pros

The technology is good, people are open and friendly. Their service organization stands out as one of the most level headed management teams I have seen. Sales and Marketing are a joke. Engineering has a lot of good people just mismanaged due to the absence of a real product roadmap. Manufacturing is still in the early 1900's.

Cons

C-Level management is detached from employee base. Communication is poor to non-existent. Highly hierarchical culture where VP Level and above employees behave like they can get away with murder and almost always do. Extremely top heavy, when I left (Fall 2008) there was 1 executive (director level and above) for every 4 employees at the manager level and below. Lack of fundamental processes (Product LIfeCycle Management, for example) make things that would normally be fairly straightforward elsewhere in a valley, exercises in futility. Many many layers of highly ineffective controls perpetuate an illusion of "things are OK." The company operates without a strategic plan and it acts like an unguided missile.

Pros

It used to be lenient which is why people stuck around and dealt with all the bs. But now that culture has shifted and they are all insecure micromanagers and hemorrhaging good employees.

Cons

Management is controlling Management picks and chooses what rules they want to follow based on their own biases and interests New directors are hired every month making hundreds of thousands and WFH out of state. You could have the best quarter ever but you will not get a bonus. They don’t have money. Stock price is dropping rapidly, they don’t pay their suppliers, they don’t pay their calibrators, and they’re not able to find a new building to lease because of this. They lie about money and everything else to their employees. They let insecure unprofessional people become managers (even though their own rules state you have to be employed there for a year before you can be promoted) and they won’t support you. Lots of retaliation that won’t be handled by the joke they call HR. Accuray is also lacking honesty and honor. Last Halloween they had a surprise audit and literally was stuffing parts in a closet to avoid the auditor seeing it and getting caught. Remember this is a medical company. A new manager actually quit because of witnessing that. Benefits are okay but it is not worth the soul draining.
