      Pros

      Strong name recognition, quite competent store level employees, carries hard to find items overlooked by the big boxes, with good ownership - integrates itself into a community, great customers mostly as well as great co-workers. (Depends upon the store)

      Cons

      Long hours, no real chance to advance beyond a store manager unless you buy yourself a store. Some inconsistencies which comes from independent ownerships. Some of the products selected by corporate aren't necessarily chosen for the 'right' reasons. A level of disconnect from Oak Brook mind think and the store mind think.

      Pros

      The co-workers are friendly and you learn alot. There is usually popcorn to eat. The employee discount is pretty good (cost + 10%).

      Cons

      You are paid minimum wage. The shifts change all the time (we need a set schedule). There have been no raises in the past 3 years! Un-paid trainings are now required. We need new raidos and new safe step-ladders.

      Pretty much hated it

      Pros

      The work was easy. The other cashiers were friendly. One particular manager was awesome to work with. I was getting paid more than minimum wage. That's pretty much it.

      Cons

      They made minors work ten hour shifts on Saturday with almost no opportunity to even call in sick. During those long ten hour shifts, there were only two ten minute breaks and a half an hour lunch. Management was horrible. No sitting was allowed. I couldn't count my drawer if I was four minutes early rather than five.
