      Cons

      No job security Work life balance Workdays can be very long with little time for breaks. The demand to meet deadlines is very high as you juggle a mix of teaching, observation, and administrative tasks. Supervisors or “deans/coaches” may not be very understanding or supportive of your workload, and you may sometimes feel isolated. Professional Development can sometimes be burdensome and not relevant to your development at all. Poor management, awful workplace culture, highly stressful, unrealistic expectations of staff

      Pros

      Working at Achievement First means that every day I get to help teachers and kids make an impact on our world. I believe our kids are the leaders of tomorrow and to know that I get to have a hand in their development and growth is exciting and humbling. I'm also surrounded by some amazing colleagues who are devoted to our mission and to supporting each other. We do that through a lot of kindness and love, but also not being afraid to hold each other and themselves to the highest standards. I feel both pushed to grow and very loved by my team.

      Cons

      The hardest thing about this work is the hours. We work really hard and we push ourselves a lot to be better. Sometimes the pressure for high standards can deviate into pressure for perfection. Whenever that happen, though, I ground myself in our work and the kindness of my team.
