      Pros

      For new teachers and those who are looking to work in a high needs area, this is a great company to work for. AF is dedicated to improving teacher skill levels and embraces Teach Like a Champion. At the elementary level, most teachers are specialized, allowing them to focus on becoming true experts in their field. There is frequent opportunity to move into school leadership or to take on a teacher leader type position.

      Cons

      There is a TON of work. With school starting just after 7 and ending just after 4, it can be a very long day. In addition to that, more experienced teachers may feel stifled or forced into using methods that they don't agree with.

      - Highly impactful in extremely in need neighborhood. - Surrounded by other passionate players - Structured support and accountability

      Cons

      - Women and staff members of color are often overlooked for promotion or leadership roles - Some systems are extremely severe and make you feel like you are being asked to be a prison guard - Administrators are not always as knowledgeable as your peers, a gap that can create faulty policies when they are trying to make a name for them in a more corporate structure
