      A sales company masquerading as a technology company

      Pros

      If you are a workout junkie, or generally an active lifestyle person, you'll love working at Active. The company places great emphasis on being active, with multiple opportunities and programs to help support an active lifestyle.

      Cons

      Active places very little value in its IT workforce. Despite their public claims, Active is not a technology company. There is little to no emphasis on technology and the company culture is decidedly sales oriented. Management insists on stack ranking, which leads to significant turnover. In the few years I've worked there, I've seen nearly all the top engineers either leave for better jobs elsewhere or lose their positions due to aggressive outsourcing to China.

      Pros

      The best thing about working at Active Network is that fundamentally, the company is about creating a healthier, more active, and more connected world. You can feel great about pouring your heart and soul into what you do for this company. As for professional development, the company is in a really exciting phase of growth and is a more professional and overall excellent organization with every passing month.

      Cons

      Salaries could be a bit higher and more attention given to quality of life in the workplace. For example, why do we still have the cheapest possible office chairs and desks? Why are our offices just kind of messy and dumpy, and why is interior decoration done by amateurs?

      Pros

      Active is a relatively newer and fast growing company. You will get the opportunity to touch many aspects of the business that are normally not available for more established firms.

      Cons

      Active has grown aggressively through acquisition leading to a good deal of integration efforts and often reorganizations. This can be unsettling for those that need a more stable workplace.
