I've been a product manager at 3 companies now including ActiveProspect where I was given the (literally) life changing opportunity to become a product manager. It's been 2 years since I left AP and I felt compelled to write a review about my experiences there. Why now? Well, 3 weeks ago I was part of a mass layoff at my most recent company (not ActiveProspect). As a father of a young kid, I was obviously anxious and worried about finding another job in this climate. So, I reached out to Steve (AP's CEO) to see if I could do some contract work for him during my job search, not knowing what the market held in this economic climate. Steve responded immediately. This was a Friday afternoon. He followed up on Saturday afternoon. And by Monday morning, he had connected me with Ahmed and then Dipa who gave me an opportunity to do some contract work for the implementation team. Such a relief. Now, this is an incredibly long review. But I think this is a story worth telling because it highlights so much about working at AP. First, AP is led by genuinely good people. Especially Steve Rafferty who not only took a chance on me as product manager, but helped me get some work when I really needed it. Second, AP is run well. This is a profitable company that does things right. As an employee at AP, even during the early days of the pandemic, I knew Steve and the leadership team were making decisions to take care of both the business and employees. I felt confident in what the company was doing because of the transparency they maintained during difficult times. I hope this review is helpful and I'm delighted to write it after all these years when it became clear to me how special AP is.
