Pros

The DC office has a great company culture and environment (though unfortunately some of the prime personalities were lost due to layoffs in May). The rotation program (which I believe is no longer running) was also a great way to get exposure to various different projects. Lastly, as a junior analyst, the stakes are low in terms of project team responsibilities, so it's a great opportunity to take the time to learn and be curious. Everyone is very willing to talk, if you are are willing to ask the questions - which is so important for an early-career position.

Cons

HR is HR, and company benefits are not anything to rave about. As a junior analyst, it can be a bit difficult to really get involved with project work, since much of it will require experience. This is a con if you are looking for a fast-paced position and dislike administrative work, but can be very much a pro if you are still learning the ropes of government consulting.

Poor Compensation, No Job Security

Pros

- the employees, especially at the junior level, are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. - decent work-life balance (although this may be because they overhired and didn't have enough work for everyone) - team culture varies a lot, but many of them are good

Cons

- really poor compensation - hired everyone with a pulse for 6+ months, then abruptly laid off all junior employees with minimal severance - uses legacy technology like SAS, which is a non-transferable skill - the kind of work they do can easily be automated by AI, only security regulations have prevented this - lack of transparency between upper management & junior employees - lack of pay transparency, international employees are underpaid - forced return to office, with huge pay cut for remote work - company prefers to spend money on opening new offices in remote locations with no employees and buying parks instead of fairly compensating employees & avoiding layoffs - dependent on govt funding which has been highly variable - poor PTO policy. very two-faced: collected data about employee concerns and desire to have more holidays, then reduced number of paid holidays to 6/year
